LIQUID SCREED
Liquid screeds are self-compacting, which means you can apply less, but end up with a stronger floor when compared to traditional sand and cement mixes. Compared to conventional floor-levelling methods, liquid screed is twice as efficient at conducting heat when used in conjunction with an underfloor heating system. Available in a variety of mixes to suit different floor depths and project specifications, liquid screed is quick to install and comes in faster drying variants for time critical applications.
Once the screed has been placed and finished, the room needs to be sealed for a minimum of 24 hours in the summer and 48 hours in the winter until the initial hardening has completed. The slab will then be ready for foot trafficking at this point. After the 24-48 hours, doors and windows should be opened to allow ventilation to assist in the drying process. These should be closed over- night and then re-opened the following day. • After 7-Days the underfloor heating system can be commissioned.
UNDERFLOOR HEATING
Underfloor heating is energy efficient, convenient, frees up wall space and can add value to your project. It provides ultimate comfort levels by distributing heat evenly, gently whilst leaving no cold spots meaning very little heat is lost.
Screedpro specialise in wet underfloor heating systems, this solution is usually more energy efficient than the electric equivalent making it more cost effective. Commissioning of the Underfloor Heating System with Screed. After 7-days the underfloor heating should be commissioned as follows:
- Switch on the system to run at a flow temperature of 5°C greater than the temperature of the room where the screed is placed.
- Increase the flow temperature in increments of 5°C per day until a maximum flow temperature of 40°C is reached. The air temperature in the areas with under floor heating must not exceed 25°C. Continue running the UFH until the screed has dried to a moisture content of 2.5%CM.
- The heating must be turned off once the screed has dried to a moisture content of 2.5%CM
- Reduce the flow temperature by 10°C per day down to 20°C before switching off and allowing to cool (typically for 48hours)
PRE-INSTALLATION
Site Survey
As with all construction works, preparation is key to ensuring any installation runs smoothly. When it comes to underfloor heating and screeding work. Screedpro will assess the site to determine the construction depth of the floor which will allow us to optimise the amount of screed and insulation we install. If you choose Screedpro to complete your installation, it’s completely free.
Here are just some of the benefits to having a site survey:
- Accurate product specification according to your space and requirements
- Careful calculations of optimum screed depth to enhance the performance of your underfloor heating
- Subfloor survey to determine the exact construction depth required for the best finished results
- Specific insulation requirements to minimise cost and maximise energy efficiency
FLOOR PREPARATION
Did you know the floor is one of the first places a building will lose heat? On average around 16% of heat loss will be through the floor if your building is badly insulated.
This is quick and cost effective to rectify, by installing a high-quality layer of thermal insulation underneath your floor screed. Screedpro will talk you through exactly what you need and why, explaining how it will be installed and the benefits you will see.
The insulation provided meets all relevant NBS product specification guidelines and it is installed in accordance with Building Regulations Part L, to achieve the required U-value standards. Why not consider our floor design services to get the most out of your new floor?
RENEWABLE HEAT
SOURCE INSTALLATION
Including Ground & Air Source Heat Pumps.
A ground source heat pump (GSHP) is an energy efficient, renewable energy solution that is particularly suited for properties on larger plots. Up to 400% efficient, this type of heat pump extracts the free heat from the ground to generate heating and hot water, reducing your energy bills and carbon footprint.
Benefits of a GSHP
- Transfers around three times more energy into the property as heat than it uses to extract it from the ground
- MCS approved for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) Energy-efficient solution that is ideal for off-grid properties Well-suited to properties on larger plots
- Ground loop or bore hole installation options Very quiet operation
Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) absorb heat from the outside air to heat your
home and hot water. They can still extract heat when air temperatures
are as low as -15°C.
